And You Thought Freedom of Speech Was a Human Right

Precision of speech, on the other hand, is more generally accepted.

If what he really meant was "an amendment to a foreign constitution does not trump Canadian laws and customs", he might even have been right.

In Ottawa.

Or London.

(Though, obviously, we have only a residual fraternal interest in Canadian laws and customs. Especially French Canadian.)

Given what has been happening in Canada with regard to freedom of speech, it would be good news if his reference was strictly to legal scope and jurisdiction.
