Solitude is out of fashion. Our companies, our schools and our culture are in thrall to an idea I call the New Groupthink, which holds that creativity and achievement come from an oddly gregarious place. Most of us now work in teams, in offices without walls, for managers who prize people skills above all. Lone geniuses are out. Collaboration is in.

Thinking is very often not a group project; it is most certainly not a spectator sport as "groupthink" so often becomes ("let's watch Bill come up with a solution. . ."). Great article.

Often there is the 'perception trap' that if a decision/idea/plan is not made by a group then how can it be a good decision/idea/plan.
Didn't somebody say once "A camel = an animal designed by a committee"
