The Beer Bell
Fred Miller married into our family and was a hit from the start. I never saw the man in a bad mood. He always had a joke and was the person you wanted to sit next to at any family event. During my lengthy car-less student days at the University of Arizona, he frequently offered the loan of his Dodge and it was only later that I fully appreciated the generosity of that act. A recent memory: He would ring the bell on his patio in Tucson to let the neighbors know that they were invited over for a beer. A thoroughly charming man who enjoyed life. He left us too soon.
