The Icing and the Cake

"All icing. No cake."

That could sum up some leaders as well as "all cake and no icing" could sum up others. Better the second than the first, of course. Leaders who can produce both are justly celebrated.

Think of how often you've seen leaders who talk and talk and talk about an  issue, accomplish nothing of substance, and then talk and talk and talk about another issue as if the first urgent, important, and oh-so-vital issue had been resolved. Their ability to shift topics and produce speeches which go nowhere is unlimited.

"All icing. No cake."
