No Clockwork

A few points to keep in mind whenever planning a major team project:
  1. Someone will fail to get the message.
  2. No matter how many deadlines you set, there will be delays.
  3. You'll have to keep reminding people of the core mission.
  4. The things that you think are of obvious importance are the ones to doublecheck.
  5. Rigid plans are fragile. [Military maxim: "No plan survives contact with the enemy."]
  6. It won't take long to learn about your assumptions.
  7. There will be surprises.
  8. People get tired. This includes you.
  9. Keep an eye out for opportunities to exploit.
  10. Be wary of the simple. [Another maxim: "The short-cut is always mined."]
