I enjoy contemporary art and one of my favorite destinations here in NYC is The New Museum.

But - there are times when I wish I could get into the artist's head and understand what he/she saw that led them to create a particular piece.

Don't know if I'd go as far to call it a "scam" - but certainly the a definitive act of a different vision...one so incredibly personal, you just can't crack the code...

I have a similar feeling with regard to understanding artists and cracking the code.

Unfortunately, there are times when the only art I'm sensing is an artfully done scam. The standard seems to be that there are no standards. That may be what Jack Paar was predicting when he said that one day we'd go to the theater and watch a man rake leaves.
