Just loved the Kent novels as a teenager. If you like him, you should look him up under his real name, Douglas Reeman, and enjoy his WW2 vintage naval novels. Also an excellent series.

I've read all of Patrick O'Brian's Aubrey-Maturin series and think it's a classic. Am looking forward to reading Kent.

I've read both Kent and O'Brian, and personally I think the Kent ones are better written. I liked both, but sometimes O'Brian seems a bit ponderous in the plot, whereas Kent's Bolitho character had me glued and I loved his journey.
