Boring Tips for a Successful Meeting

Read the minutes. Show up on time. Let others speak first. Listen for meaning. Watch for alliances. Catch the nuances. Know your priorities. Be polite. Don't raise your voice. Spot the assumptions. Consider the gaps. Study the body language. Take breaks...but only if the others do so. Curb your humor. Seize the high ground. Seek to clarify. Don't pout. Strike the right tone. Be reasonable. Don't repeat what's been said. Let mission trump turf. Don't try to impress. Remember the precedents, but know when to abandon them. Avoid impatience. Enjoy the process.
