While I agree with both the list and the comments-added books, I was surprised how the top ten books were all written, I believe, in the last 10-12 years. I especially liked the added books form the fiction section. Mordecai Richler's "The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz" is great as is Joseph Heller's "Something Happened". A surprising author no one mentioned, IMHO, was W. Edwards Deming. I realize his books tend to have a "unique" method of writing and organization, but they're always a treat to dive into on occasion. Forced to choose, I'd go with his Out of Crisis. Some of his teachings may seem outdated but they still hold true in a company struggling for efficiency and competitive advantage.
Good point. The Deming omission is an interesting one. Perhaps it was deemed too academic for a general readership. I haven't read "The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz" but am still haunted by the Heller book.
