Faux Collegial

The faux collegial leader consults associates, but will cherry-pick the advisors in order to be sure that the opinions solicited are the ones desired.

The faux collegial leader is fond of meetings, but will structure the agenda and evidence to favor a particular point of view.

He or she will make a great noise about openness and tolerance, but you will seldom find a colder operator than a faux collegial, possibly because these folks believe they truly are open and tolerant and that any opposition must be ill-informed or with bad intent.

Beware the faux collegial leader. I'll take an honest autocrat as an opponent any day.
