Draining the Swamp

So much of productive team work consists of taking personalities out of the analysis so issues can be viewed on their merits.

Jerks, whiners, and weasels sometimes have good ideas and vaild points. It can be difficult to find the wisdom hidden beneath their sarcasm and evasions, but it may exist. Searching for the merit is part of sophisticated decision making.

That said, does a person ever deserve to have ideas dismissed because they were delivered in an inappropriate manner?

I'm still thinking on that one.

Inappropriate for whom? The jerk, whiner and weasels generally don't see their behavior as having anything wrong with it, they are trying to communicate a message, be it in their own way. The choice is to listen or not to listen , and if you need too take the time to ask them what they mean if you don't understand. Since they are all part of the team, the better the leader the better integrator.
