Five on Cities

Pete Hamill gives his top five list of books about cities.

[I'd add Hemingway's A Movable Feast.]

I agree about a Moveable Feast. I'd also add my absolute favorite book about cities: Allan Jacobs' Great Streets of the World. I love the drawings of streets and the maps of different city street patterns. There's real poetry in the way Jacobs both pictures and describes the streets and how they fit into and affect the fabric of the city.

Thanks, Wally. I'll give that a look. It sounds fascinating, especially for those of us who are map lovers.
