Soul Break: Mustang Sally

Back by popular demand: The Commitments - truly a marvelous film - and "Mustang Sally."

Thanks Michael - too long since I saw that. Amazingly, the singer was only 16 when he landed that role.

I have two particular memories of 'The Commitments.' First, I saw it in Tokyo with a madly enthusiastic Japanese audience dancing in the aisles.

Then a colleague from New York told me he'd seen it and that he'd been provided with a glossary to translate some of the more obscure Dublin colloquialisms - I wonder does anyone still have a copy of that?

Funniest moment in the film for me was when the young fella was waiting at the elevator with the horse and when challenged about bringing a full-sized horse into a lift answers by saying, "But the stairs will kill him!"

Dublin wit - dry or sparkling, it's hard to beat.

Rowan,

The line about the horse is one of the most memorable in the film.

I occasionally recommend the movie in management classes as an amusing look at the challenge of maintaining cohesion with a creative team.

It would be great to track down that glossary. I'm sure that you're gleaned much more from the film than those of us who don't pick up on various terms.

Great stuff.
