Population and Influence

Writing last April, Ben J. Wattenberg looks at the United States and gets optimistic. An excerpt:

I have worked more than 40 years examining and interpreting American and international social and economic data. To me the evidence seems clear. There is no collapse in sight. The United States will become vastly more powerful in the decades to come.

[Execupundit note: I'm not as enthusastic about large increases in the population but the downsides of having a decreasing population will soon be evident in Europe and Asia. Wattenberg's analysis also assumes relative stability - no dirty bombs in a major city - and continuing assimilation but he's always worth reading.]
